What is Reconsideration?

Reconsideration is the second step in the disability process. A “Reconsideration” is filed when the claimant has been denied in the initial application process. During the Reconsideration period, a new set of individuals will evaluate the merits of the claim and make an administrative determination as to whether the claimant is disabled. There is no in-person appearance at a “Reconsideration” determination. Although a new set of individuals evaluates the merits of the claim, most claimants are denied at the “Reconsideration” stage. In the event a “Reconsideration” is denied, a claimant has to request a hearing in order to have the case presented to an Administrative Law Judge

If your Social Security Disability claim has been denied at the initial stage, at the “Reconsideration” stage or if you would like us to help you with your Social Security claim, please contact us at 800-842-0426.
