Social Security Disability Claims

Diseases

Diseases, as they relate to Social Security Disability, cover a very large category. Some diseases are occupational in nature and may occur from the inhalation or exposure to certain substances. Classic examples of inhaled conditions are Black Lung or Asbestosis from inhalation of asbestos material. Some people have physical reactions also to exposure to chemicals or conditions which, if severe enough, form a basis for a disability claim.

In most disease related disability claims the disease develops naturally until it becomes disabling. Generally speaking, diseases are usually evaluated by the Social Security Administration by the system involved or by their effect on the body as a whole.

There are 14 different categories of a body system which can be affected by a disease process and they are evaluated independently.

The 14 categories are very specific and include rules called the “Listing of Impairments” which, if met, would normally result in the automatic awarding of benefits.

At Drummond Disability, we approach these disease cases by making sure our client makes every effort to get an appropriate diagnosis concerning what disease process is present. Diagnosis is not always easy!

A typical client who retains our disability services has a multitude of complaints, but often is not sure as to the cause of said complaints. For instance, people may ache all over, lose sense of feeling in their arms or legs or have intractable pain in various parts of their body but have not underwent diagnostic testing to pinpoint the cause.

At Drummond Disability, we try to work with our clients, in the event they do not have medical coverage, so that they can take advantage of special programs to isolate and identify the source of their problem. When we have found the source of their problem, it is our job to show that the condition prevents them of being gainfully employed.

At Drummond Disability, we believe in evidence. We believe in collecting the medical records necessary to confirm a disability. If you would like our assistance, make a FREE CALL to our office TODAY, 800-842-0426.
