What is ODAR?

Office of Disability Adjudication and Review

The administrative office that hears Social Security hearings concerning Social Security Disability Insurance (“SSDI”) and Supplemental Security Income (“SSI”) is called the Office of Disability Adjudication and Review (“ODAR Office”). The ODAR Office is where most claims will go to be heard.

There are over 100 separate ODAR Offices and which ODAR Office your claim will be heard at depends on where you live. For example, if you live near St. Louis, MO, your claim will likely be heard at the St. Louis ODAR Office but if you live near Springfield, IL, your claim will likely be heard in the Springfield, IL ODAR Office.

At the ODAR Office, a hearing is held where you, the applicant for SSDI and SSI, and one of Drummond Law’s attorneys get to appear in front of an administrative law judge (“ALJ”). The ALJ will review your records and any documents submitted to them and at the hearing will ask questions to determine if you are disabled. During this time, our attorney will be there to help ensure the hearing goes well and to help point out to the ALJ what evidence we have that shows you to be disabled.
